24/2/17

We have had such a busy and fun week and have definitely ended the week 'feeling good.'
On Tuesday we had the opportunity to experience some African djembe drumming and our class were chosen to perform in the assembly at the end of the day. It was really tricky playing three different instruments and rhythms at the same time but we were really pleased with what we achieved.

On Thursday we all became chefs and made some delicious soups as part of our DT topic. We had so much fun preparing lots of different vegetables and then transforming our classroom into a soup kitchen. We want to say a big thank you to all the mummies and daddies that visited our restaurant at the end of day;we loved sharing what we have been learning with you!

In the next couple of weeks we will be beginning a Roald Dahl topic where we read lots of his stories and have a go at writing some of our own. We will also be studying the illustrations of Quentin Blake and will explore creating our own illustrations using his techniques. Our topic will lead up to a Roald Dahl themed day where we dress up as a character from one of his books and participate in lots of fun activities. More information about this will follow in due course.

Here are a few photographs from our week...

10/2/17

The half-term seems to have flown by but we have another busy term coming up.

Our first week back coincides with Feeling Good week and we will be starting with a bang! We have African drumming workshops for the whole school on Monday and Tuesday with a performance to parents at the end of the day. More information on this will be sent out via Parent Mail.

We have also rescheduled our Winter Warming soup event, which will now be held on Thursday 23rd of February. The classroom will be open for you to come in from 2.50pm to sample our delicious soups.

On the 2nd of March, we will be celebrating World Book Day so you may wish to begin thinking about costumes.

In our topic lessons, we will be studying the life of Florence Nightingale and the impact she had on nursing. I have set the class some research based homework over the holiday to find out some interesting facts about her.

Have a relaxing break and see you after the holiday!
