2/12/16

We are working extremely hard to prepare the Nativity for you all. The children have amazed me with their enthusiasm and how quickly they have learnt their lines. Thank you for practising this with them at home and hopefully we will see lots of you there on Friday.

A letter will have been sent out to you this week to reserve seats for the Nativity. Please could you ensure these are returned as soon as possible along with any DVD orders you may have.

On the homework slip this week, I have asked for cardboard boxes for our Fire-engine D&T topic.  We really would appreciate if these could come in already turned inside out and labelled with your child's name.

Have a lovely weekend and don't forget the Christmas fair is on Saturday from 12 until 3.

Thank you to everyone who came to watch our class assembly today! The children have worked incredibly hard all week and sang and spoke beautifully. I was very proud of them.

The next three weeks will be as equally busy as we prepare our Nativity. All of the class have taken scripts or song words home to begin learning over the weekend. Please support your child with this and remind them to have their script in school every day so that we can practise.

Have a wonderful weekend!

Hi all!

We have had a really enjoyable week learning about our topic. On Wednesday we were visited by History off the page who treated the us to a wonderful re-enactment of life at the time of the Great Fire of London. We all dressed up in costume from 1666 and learnt about different jobs such as candle makers, surgeons and apothecaries. We learned why the fire spread so quickly and even had a go at putting out the 'fire' by working as a team in a bucket chain. After lunch we then 'helped' the Mayor of London to plan the reconstruction of the city by sifting through evidence from the fire in order to find information about lost buildings. We thoroughly enjoyed the day and the sessions really brought history to life for us.

Next week we will be busy preparing our class assembly and we hope to see lots of you there on Friday. We will also begin to practise our nativity which we will be performing, with the support of Year 1, on the 9th of December.

Here are some photos from our history day...

7.10.16

We have had a really enjoyable week!

We have written some fantastic traditional tales and have worked hard to think about how we are starting our sentences. We have been learning to use 'if', 'when' and 'because' in our sentences as well as interesting adjectives.

In Maths, we have been practising doubling and halving 2-digit numbers as well as finding number bonds to different one and two digit numbers. We will be moving on to using our knowledge of number bonds to solve harder addition and subtraction sums.

On Wednesday afternoon we got extremely muddy and had great fun creating some mud paintings using only natural materials. We have been studying art in nature and have also created some leaf pictures which are displayed in our classroom window. Here are some pictures of the afternoon. Be prepared to see just how filthy we got...
